Social Security Disability
Some people wonder applicant’s social security disability benefits, if you still qualify, if you smoke, drink, drug use and (or longer) in jail. Here we discuss what Social Security looks to the disability decision.
Many candidates in the smoke, and it will not affect the claim, all that much. However, if the disability of COPD or emphysema or other breathing disorder, which is probably related to the smoking habit, social security disability will ask if you tried to quit. Those who quit the habit, or drastically cut back on smoking is much greater chance of being approved for disability. Those who are aware of the harmful effects of smoking in his own body, but not yet cut back all the wrinkled forehead, and their claim may be denied if there are other disabilities.
When it comes to alcohol and drug addiction, the social security system has changed over the past decade or so. There used to be a list, allowing those who are addicted to alcohol or drugs to be approved, the argument that there was an uncontrollable addiction. However, the Social Security realized that these recipients are likely to use taxpayers’ money, or disability checks, fuel their habits. So, social security, turning things around. Now, if it is determined that the applicant is “any material involvement” with drugs and alcohol, they deny it.
However, if the applicant has a disability, it may be on drugs or alcohol, but it’s questionable, I still have a chance to approve a disability (eg, liver). These situations are sometimes difficult to prove, but it happens quite often.
