Blog Review: DennisEdell.com & EashCashContests.com

Dennis Edell is an internet marketer that runs DennisEdell.com, his personal blog. This blog is the “central hub” for all that will be in his empire to come. He runs 3 websites currently and plans to build an e-commerce website and has several other blog ideas in the process. To learn more about Dennis visit here.

This review is a joint review where both blogs will have mutual aspects being reviewed at one time. All criticism is solely my opinion and represents my thoughts on both blogs. Now for the blog review:

Blog Theme – Simple, but plain theme. The layout is very simple and easy to read. The color scheme is a it bland since the majority of the page is white with a gray background. Post titles are simple and easy to read, no clutter throughout the theme, and the RSS button is placed directly at the top of the page in the middle box. The blog theme does need some work in my opinion to give readers “more to look at” (both blogs need work when it comes to design).

Site Navigation – Navigation through the blog is simple. Recent Posts and Recent Comments are in the sidebar, but the archives are located at the top of the page. The sidebar is quite empty along with the footer. Like I mentioned earlier, the blog design needs a little work. Social Networks and Most Popular Articles are located at the top of the page with the RSS subscription box in between. The website loads quickly and there is no problem when viewing articles. EarnCashContests.com contains the same navigation, but less content toward the top of the page.

Site Pages – Both blogs include an About page, Archives, and Contact page. The pages are very basic and there is not much else featured in this section. The About page is very simple to read an not long whatsoever. Contact page is professional and the Archives page is nicely put together.

Content Quality – Article content is for DennisEdell.com is low with only 8 articles posted throughout the website. For a marketing blog, there isn’t much marketing-related content. There are several humorous posts and some person posts, but there needs to be some useful marketing content as some point. EarnCashContests.com only 4 posts and needs some work when it comes to finding blog contests.

Ad Placement – There are no advertisements posted on DennisEdell.com, but EarningCashContests.com contains 2 advertisements. These 2 ads do not disrupt the content and work nicely with the plain design.

Site Statistics – DennisEdell.com has a PR1 and Alexa rank are 1,404,198 and currently 22 subscribers. EarningCashContests.com has a PR1 and Alexa of 1,949,641 and 18 subscribers. The websites have a lot of work to be done, so over time I’m sure these stats will improve.

Final Thoughts – Both blog designs need to be worked before more readers start to take interest in the content. Once Dennis starts posting more material on marketing and contests and the design becomes appealing, he’ll surely get his reader count much higher and Alexa rank increased. As for Pagerank, with a little SEO and link generation he’ll be sure to get these stats a nice spike.
